PGNiG to supply another US LNG cargo to Ukraine

Poland’s dominant gas firm PGNiG said on Tuesday it would supply another US liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo to Ukraine via the regasification facility in Swinoujscie.

PGNiG said it would deliver the regasified LNG to ERU Europe.

According to PGNiG, the vessel with the US LNG would arrive at the President Lech Kaczynski LNG terminal in Swinoujscie at the end of February this year.

After regasification, the regasified LNG would be fed into the Polish transmission system while ERU Europe would receive the purchased fuel at the interconnection between Poland and Ukraine until the end of March 2022, the firm said.

PGNiG did not reveal from whom it purchased the US LNG cargo or any additional details.

This is the second such delivery to Ukraine. The first US LNG cargo arrived at the Swinoujscie terminal in November 2019. ERU received this shipment through the interconnection in Hermanowice.

PGNiG is in charge of all the supplies coming to the Swinoujscie import terminal operated by Gaz-System.

The facility, which is currently undergoing expansion, recently received the 40th LNG delivery from the US and the 150th shipment since start of operations in 2016.

“This is yet another delivery of American LNG to Ukraine made by PGNiG in cooperation with ERU, which is our strategic trading partner on the Ukrainian market,” said Paweł Majewski, president of the management board of PGNiG.

“Good relations built over the years are particularly important now, at a time of great turbulence on the gas market in Europe,” Majewski said.
