Hoegh to supply FSRU for H-Energy’s Jaigarh project in India

Norway’s Höegh LNG has entered into a binding deal to supply FSRU for H-Energy’s delayed import project in Jaigarh, India.

The floating LNG player said Thursday it would supply the unit as early as first quarter 2021.

Furthermore, the final deal will be for 10 years with annual termination options after year five.

Hoegh LNG will allocate one of its available FSRUs currently trading in the LNG carrier market for the project.

CEO Sveinung J.S. Stohle said the construction of H-Energy’s LNG import project is near to completion, positioning it as a timely gateway to one of the world’s highest growing LNG markets.

“The terminal will be the first of what we believe could be multiple FSRU based terminals in India,” he said.

Long-delayed import project

H-Energy’s Jaigarh project, located south of Mumbai in Maharashtra state, has faced several setbacks over the years.

The Hiranandani firm previously expected to start the facility in 2018 but the launch of the facility has been delayed for several times.

H-Energy said that one of the main reasons for the setbacks were monsoon rains that affected the construction of the pipeline connecting the terminal at Jaigarh to the gas grid at Dabhol.

The firm now expects commercial launch in the fourth quarter of 2021, according to its website.

The project will be implemented in two phases with the first including a jetty-based FSRU with 4 million tonnes per annum capacity.

Additionally, the second phase would include a land-based facility with a capacity of up to 8 mpta.
