Wartsila secures VLGC gig from DSME

Finland’s Wartsila said it would supply its cargo handling system for four new 91,000-cbm very large gas carriers currently under construction at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.

The South Korean shipbuilder will deliver the LPG-powered vessels to Norway-based owner Avance Gas in 2022-2023.

Wartsila said in a statement DSME had placed the orders for the cargo handling systems in April and May this year.

In addition, the Finnish firm plans to deliver the equipment to the yard in May 2022.

Wartsila has also previously delivered similar systems for an earlier series of Avance Gas vessels.
