Peru LNG sends five cargoes in February

Peru LNG’s 4.45 mtpa liquefaction plant at Pampa Melchorita shipped five cargoes in February, one shipment down compared to the month before, according to state-owned Perupetro.

Perupetro’s data shows that during February the LNG export plant had shipped three cargoes to the UK and one cargo each to South Korea and Taiwan.

This totaled about 332,687 tonnes and compares to four cargoes in February 2021, or 281,022 tonnes, the data shows. LNG exports from the plant dropped compared to 425,186 tonnes and six cargoes in the prior month.

Peru LNG’s exports declined considerably last year but the facility was offline for about two months during July and August due to repairs on a compressor.

In total, the facility sent 657 LNG cargoes since 2010, Perupetro’s data shows.

US-based Hunt Oil holds a 50 percent operating stake in the LNG plant, while SK and Marubeni have 20 percent and 10 percent, respectively.

LNG giant Shell also holds a 20 percent stake and takes all the volumes produced at the facility.
