Adnoc orders another LNG carrier at China’s Jiangnan

A unit of UAE’s Abu Dhabi National Oil Co (Adnoc) has placed an order for another LNG carrier at China’s Jiangnan Shipyard, boosting the total to six firm vessels, according to shipbuilding sources.

Adnoc Logistics & Services, a unit of Adnoc, confirmed orders for five 175,000-cbm LNG carriers this year, including three in June, and two in March.

Jiangnan will deliver these vessels between 2025 and 2026.

These “LNG Jumbo” dual-fuel carriers will feature GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane system and a partial reliquefaction system.

Sources told LNG Prime in May that Adnoc had placed orders for a total of five firm LNG vessels and one optional ship with a total price tag of more than $1.2 billion.

The firm has now exercised its option for the sixth LNG carrier.

Adnoc placed the order in August, according to one source.

The firm will take delivery of this vessel said to be worth around $210 million in the second half of 2026.

French LNG containment giant GTT also said in a statement on Tuesday it had secured an order for a single 175,000-cbm LNG carrier from Jiangan.

The LNG carrier will feature GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

GTT only said that Jiangnan would build this vessel for an international shipowner, without disclosing further details.
