Alpha Gas adds new LNG tanker to its fleet

South Korea’s Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries has delivered the 174,000-cbm LNG carrier, Energy Fortitude, to Greece’s Alpha Gas.

Its AIS data provided by VesselsValue shows that the LNG carrier has departed the Mokpo yard on Tuesday.

Alpha Gas confirmed the delivery of the vessel in a social media post later on Tuesday.

“Energy Fortitude was delivered from the yard straight into her first employment (long-term charter) with a world-class Far East based charterer,” the company said.

HSHI launched this LNG carrier in July last year.

Alpha Gas now took delivery of all three XDF LNG carriers from HSHI during 2023-2024.

The vessels are equipped with a full reliquefaction system, air lubrication system, two shaft generators, and air resistance shield.

In April last year, the shipbuilder delivered the first LNG carrier in this batch, Energy Fidelity, and this vessel serves Jera Global Markets, a joint venture of Japan’s Jera and France’s EDF, under a charter deal.

Alpha Gas took delivery of the second LNG carrier in this batch, Energy Endurance, in January this year.

Prior to these deliveries, Alpha Gas welcomed the 174,300-cbm Energy Intelligence into its fleet in June 2021.

This LNG carrier and its sister vessel Energy Integrity are on charter to a unit of SEFE, previously known as Gazprom Germania and now controlled by the German government.

In addition to these vessels, Alpha Gas took delivery of Energy Endeavour in 2021, Energy Pacific in 2020, and Energy Atlantic in 2015.

Including the latest delivery, Alpha Gas now has eight LNG carriers in its fleet.

Besides LNG carriers, Alpha Gas has four VLGC/VLAC carriers on order in South Korea and scheduled for delivery in 2026 and 2027.
