DSME delivers new LNG carrier to Greece’s Maran Gas

South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering has handed over a new LNG carrier to Greek shipping firm Maran Gas.

Angelicoussis Shipping Group, the parent of Maran Gas, said in a statement on Monday the latter took delivery of the 174,000-cbm LNG carrier Isabella.

The vessel was on Tuesday located in the Malacca Strait off Malaysia after leaving DSME last month, according to its AIS data.

This ship is the first with WinGD’s X-DF propulsion to join the Maran Gas fleet.

In addition, it features the latest technological developments in cargo containment, boil-off gas but also a reliquefaction system, Angelicoussis said.

The Greek firm did not provide any additional information.

Maria Angelicoussis-led Maran Gas has currently 38 LNG carriers in operation, including the newest addition, according to its website.

On top of this, the firm has eight 174,000-cbm LNG carriers on order and scheduled for delivery from 2021-2023.

Also, brokers have recently reported that Maran Gas has exercised options for two additional LNG carriers at Samsung Heavy.
