Greece’s Alpha Gas welcomes new LNG carrier

Greece-based shipping firm Alpha Gas has taken delivery of the second 173,400-cbm LNG carrier which would go on charter to a unit of Russian gas giant Gazprom.

Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering handed over Energy Intelligence to Alpha Gas on Wednesday.

Gazprom Marketing & Trading said earlier this year it had chartered the vessel along with its sister carrier Energy Integrity. Alpha Gas took delivery of this carrier in May.

Previously, the Greek firm controlled by Anna Angelicoussis has added two LNG carriers to its fleet, namely Energy Pacific in September 2020 and Energy Endeavour in January this year.

All of these vessels feature MAN B&W ME-GI engines, a reliquefication system, and GTT’s NO96 cargo containment system.

In addition, this latest delivery also marked the completion of the company’s 2020-2021 newbuilding program.

Besides these four vessels, Alpha Gas also owns the 2015-built 159,881-cbm Energy Atlantic.
