Hudong says second LNG carrier for CSSC Shipping wraps up sea trials

China’s Hudong-Zhonghua is moving forward with works on the second LNG carrier it is building for CSSC Shipping, the financial leasing unit of China State Shipbuilding Corporation.

Hudong, also part of CSSC, said the 174,000-cbm Gui Ying has completed its sea trials and returned to its yard on Changxing Island, Shanghai last week. The trials took 5 days.

The LNG carrier will later this year head out to complete its gas trials. According to the current schedule, Hudong should deliver Gui Ying in February 2022.

Its sister vessel Mu Lan has recently completed gas trials and Hudong should deliver this ship next month.

In addition to these vessels, the Chinese yard also signed another contract with CSSC Shipping in July for the third LNG carrier.

Part of Hudong’s fourth-generation Changxing series, all the LNG carriers will feature WinGD’s X-DF dual-fuel engines and GTT’s NO96 L03+ containment system.

They will be 295 meters long and 45 meters wide.
