Knutsen takes delivery of LNG carrier chartered by Engie

Norwegian shipowner Knutsen has taken delivery of an Engie-chartered LNG carrier from South Korea’s Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.

Knutsen announced via social media on Monday that it has welcomed the 174,000-cbm, Gordon Waters Knutsen, to its fleet.

This is the first of two LNG newbuilds that will go on long-term charter to France’s Engie, according to Knutsen.

Gordon Waters Knutsen is equipped with GTT’s Mark III Flex system, reliquefaction unit, air lubrication system, and MAN’s new ME-GA engine, it said.

This French-flagged vessel was named at Hyundai Samho in April this year.

According to VesselsValue data, Knutsen ordered this LNG carrier at the shipbuilder in April 2021.

Knutsen paid about $190 million for the vessel.
