Russia’s Novatek delivers 1st LNG cargo to UAE

Russian independent LNG producer Novatek said Friday it delivered its first cargo of the fuel to the United Arab Emirates.

Novatek Gas & Power Asia delivered the cargo as part of a spot contract to the Jebel Ali LNG terminal.

Operated by the Dubai Supply Authority, the LNG terminal in the port of Jebel Ali utilises Excelerate’s FSRU Explorer.

Novatek’s unit delivered the cargo from its Yamal LNG project in the Russian Arctic onboard Teekay’s 174000-cbm Yamal Spirit.

Howevher, the chartered carrier did not take the cargo directly at Yamal LNG. Instead, it transshiped it in Europe prior to arriving at the Dubai facility.

′′ With our first delivery to the United Arab Emirates, Novatek expands the geography of LNG consumers,” said Lev Feodosiev, deputy chairman of Novatek’s board.

“High-quality resource base in the Russian Arctic region, modern technologies used in Novatek LNG projects and developed logistics solutions allow for competitive LNG supply to almost any world markets,” he added.
