South Korea’s Hyundai Samho to build one LNG carrier

South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries will build one LNG carrier for an unidentified owner as part of a contract revealed on Friday.

Parent firm Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering said in a filing to the stock exchange the deal has a price tag of about 215.5 billion won ($190 million).

Furthermore, Hyundai Samho will deliver the vessel to a Liberia-based owner by November 2023, according to the filling.

KSOE did not reveal any additional information.

Hyundai Samho revealed in May this year it had secured an order for a single carrier.

It also won one order in January from Russia’s Sovmcoflot. This 174,000-cbm vessel will go on charter to Total.

Most of Sovcomflot vessels operate under the Liberian registry.
