Vitol’s unit ViGo launches bio-LNG station in Germany

Vitol’s subsidiary ViGo Bioenergy has launched a bio-LNG station for vehicles in Germany’s Braunschweig.

With the opening of the fixed bio-LNG filling station at the Braunschweig site, ViGo is replacing the previous mobile station, the firm said in a statement.

Located directly on the A2, Braunschweig Hafen exit, the new filling station supplies 100 percent bio-LNG right from the start, the firm said.

ViGo did not provide further information.

Back in 2021, energy trader Vitol bought a majority share in Berlin-based LNG firm Liquind, now renamed ViGo Bioenergy.

According to its website, the company has at least 26 stations in operation with more planned.

Data by Gmobility, previously known as NGVA Europe, shows Germany has 185 LNG filing stations, while Italy has 146 such stations. Europe in total hosts 712 LNG stations for trucks.

Last year, European network of LNG fueling stations for vehicles reached 700 stations.
