Vlantana launches first Lithuanian LNG station

Lithuanian transport firm Vlantana has launched what it says is the first LNG and CNG refueling station for heavy-duty vehicles in Lithuania.

The station is located at Vlantana’s headquarters in Klaipeda.

Klaipeda is also home to the 170,000-cbm FSRU Independence, which serves Lithuania’s first LNG import terminal.

According to Vlantana, the new station can supply both bio-LNG and bio-CNG and features a 12 meters high LNG tank with a capacity of 80,000 liters.

It is capable of filling 20 trucks per hour.

HAM Criogenica, a unit of Spain’s HAM, provided the equipment for the station.

Vlantana has a fleet of LNG/LBG Iveco S-Way NP trucks.

Last year, German LNG fueling station operator Alternoil signed a long-term deal with Vlatana to supply the latter’s LNG-powered trucks in Germany.

This first station in Lithuania adds to the growing network of LNG refueling stations for heavy-duty vehicles in Europe.

Data by gmobility, part of NGVA Europe, shows that Europe currently has 727 LNG stations for vehicles.

Germany hosts 184 stations, Italy 151, and Spain 97, the data shows.
