Flex LNG said on Monday that Kalleklev will be available in an advisory capacity until the end of the third quarter to ensure a smooth transition period.
He joined Flex LNG in October 2017 and was appointed CEO in August 2018 and has thus been with the company for exactly seven and a half years.
“I would like to thank everyone involved, particularly my good colleagues, for a fantastic journey with Flex LNG. Together during the last seven and a half years, we have built from scratch a first-class LNG shipping company which is uniquely positioned with a substantial contract backlog and a fortress balance sheet,” Kalleklev said.
“After a long stint as CEO, I do however feel it’s about time for me to move on pursuing other opportunities,” he said.
“Hence, I am very glad that the board has decided to appoint Marius Foss as interim CEO. Marius has been instrumental in the development and implementation of Flex LNGs commercial strategy since he joined the Company in 2018 so with him at the helm, Flex LNG is in very safe and capable hands,” Kalleklev said.
Flex LNG owns 13 LNG carriers.
In November 2024, Flex LNG announced extension of the time charters for Flex Courageous and Flex Resolute.
Furthermore, in December, the company revealed a new 15-year time charter for Flex Constellation from 2026 to 2041 where the charterer has the option to extend the ship up to 2043.
The shipping firm controlled by billionaire John Fredriksen said in February it had 62 years of minimum charter backlog, equal to about five years of contract backlog per ship, on average.
Flex LNG expects its financial performance in 2025 to be in line with what the company has achieved in 2024, despite a weak market.
