1) US LNG exporter Venture Global LNG plans to start construction of its CP2 LNG project in Louisiana “immediately” following approval from the US FERC.
2) The 138,000-cbm LNG carrier Iberica Knutsen was on Friday anchored offshore Mukran, the home of the Deutsche ReGas-operated FSRU-based LNG import facility, following a grounding incident. Deutsche ReGas told LNG Prime that unloading of the vessel’s LNG cargo is “part of ongoing operational planning.”
3) Switzerland-based energy trader Mercuria has signed a long-term LNG sales and purchase agreement with China’s Guangzhou Gas, a unit of Guangzhou Development Group.
4) The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has released a final supplemental environmental impact statement for Commonwealth LNG’s proposed LNG export plant in Louisiana. The regulator concluded that National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) exceedances for 1-hour NO2 may be significant.
5) State-owned LNG giant QatarEnergy aims to increase trading of non-Qatari physical LNG volumes to 30 to 40 million tons by 2030, according to Qatar’s energy minister and chief executive of QatarEnergy, Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi.
