Wartsila nets contract for dual-fuel LPG carriers

Finland’s Wartsila said it has secured a contract to deliver cargo handling and fuel supply systems for Petredec’s recently ordered dual-fuel LPG carriers.

China’s Jiangnan Shipyard will build the three 93,000-cbm carriers with dual-fuel LPG propulsion for Singapore-based Petredec.

Wartsila said it received the award this month. Moreover, the technology firm will deliver its LPG fuel supply system along with the company’s digital operational performance improvement and monitoring system.

In addition, Jiangnan should hand over the vessels to the owner in June, August and September 2023, respectfully.

The new contract follows an announcement in early November 2020 for an initial order of three vessels, boosting Petredec’s fleet to 27 VLGCs in total.
