Jacobs bags contract for Batangas LNG terminal in Philippines

US engineering firm Jacobs said it has won a contract from a unit of First Gen for the FSRU-based Batangas LNG import terminal in the Philippines.

Jacobs will deliver owner’s engineer services for the engineering, procurement and construction of the facility located at First Gen’s existing Batangas energy complex.

The project developer FGEN LNG Corporation, a unit of First Gen, awarded the contract to the US firm.

Besides the FSRU, the project consists of the modification of the existing jetty for multi-use.

The scope includes modifications to the jetty head, berthing and mooring facilities, a trestle bridge with high-pressure gas pipeline and utilities but also a jetty monitoring building and control room, Jacobs said.

As owner’s engineer, Jacobs would undertake design review, project management and supervision of the construction of the project, it said.

To remind, First Gen recently awarded BW Gas the charter contract for its converted 162,000-cbm FSRU named BW Paris.

The FSRU has a nominal and peak gas send-out capacity of 500 MMscfd and 750 MMscfd, respectfully.

The project would play a “critical role” in opening LNG imports to the Philippines as it transitions to cleaner energy sources, Jacobs said.
