UK-based marine services provider James Fisher and Sons has taken delivery of an LNG-powered tanker in China.
Swedish marine designer FKAB said in a statement that China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Yangzhou) Dingheng handed over the first vessel in the series of FKAB T68 tankers for James Fisher, Orca Fisher, on March 16.
The 6000-dwt dual-fuel chemical and product tanker, with a gross tonnage below 5000 GT, can run on LNG/LBG and diesel.
It features a Wärtsilä 25 four-stroke dual-fuel engine that can operate as an auxiliary engine during cargo discharging and other low-load cases in harbor mode by using skip‐firing mode.
“The hull form is designed for good performance in harsh weather conditions, with innovative solutions onboard, and with the patented F‐bow, it is an efficient, low energy-consuming vessel,” FKAB said.
In 2021, James Fisher ordered two LNG-powered tankers from CMJL Yangzhou.
James Fisher christened its LNG dual-fuel chemical tanker, Lady Maria, at the port of Sunderland in January 2024.
Since entering service in 2023, John Fisher and Lady Maria Fisher have primarily serviced the company’s long-time customer P66.
In January 2024, brokers said that James Fisher declared its two optional LNG dual-fuel 6,000-dwt chemical tankers at CMJL Yangzhou, boosting the series to four at the yard.
Earlier this year, James Fisher ordered four new LNG dual-fuel tankers at the yard.
