In 2023, CIMC’s unit TGE Gas Engineering announced that it will work on this project in a consortium with CIMC Enric Engineering Technology (CET) and China Construction Second Engineering Bureau (CSCEC).
The scope of work includes two 160,000-cbm full-containment LNG storage tanks, a process plant, and a new loading/unloading jetty capable of receiving LNG vessels with capacities ranging from 3,000 cbm to 217,000 cbm.
TGE Gas said in an update on Wednesday that the air-raising of the T-213 LNG storage tank roof was completed. Shenzhen Gas also announced the completion of the operation in a separate statement.
This marks the transition of the T-213 LNG storage tank project from a phase focused primarily on civil engineering for the outer tank to a phase centered on the installation of the inner tank, TGE Gas said.
TGE Gas also said that construction of the T-212 storage tank walls is underway, while approximately 91 percent of the terminal’s pile foundations have been completed, and civil engineering work for the terminal has begun.

2028
The entire project is expected to reach mechanical completion in 2028.
Following the completion of works, the extended LNG plant will have a capacity of 2 million tons per year.
TGE Gas said the expansion will enhance the natural gas peak-shaving and emergency supply capabilities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area
Once completed and put into operation, the expanion project will increase the city’s emergency gas reserves from 7 days to more than 30 days, according to the firm.
CIMC Enric Engineering Technology and TGE Gas previously delivered the first phase of the Shenzhen LNG storage and peak shaving facility.
According to the Shenzhen Gas website, the first phase of the facility launched operations in August 2019.
It features one 80,000-cbm storage tank and one LNG jetty capable of handling vessels ranging from 10,000 cbm to 90,000 cbm.
The facility has a capacity of approximately 800,000 tons.
