TGE scores Huizhou LNG tank contract in China

Germany-based TGE Gas Engineering, a unit of China’s CIMC, said it has signed an EPC contract with Guangdong Huizhou LNG for the construction of three storage tanks.

To remind, Chinese state-owned power utility Guangdong Energy recently held a ceremony to mark the start of the construction of the large LNG import facility in Huizhou.

TGE said in a statement its unit TGE Shanghai would work on the project which includes building three 200,000-cbm full containment LNG tanks using 9 percent Ni steel for the inner tank and related supporting facilities.

The facility will have a design receiving scale of 4 million tons per year but also maximum processing capacity of 6.1 million tons per year, according to TGE.

Moreover, TGE expects the mechanical completion of the project on January 31, 2024. Also, Guangdong would commission the three tanks on March 31 the same year, the firm said.

TGE did not disclose the financial details of the contract.

Guangdong Energy previously said the total costs for the first phase would reach 6.6 billion yuan ($1.01 billion).
