Greece’s Capital Gas welcomes new LNG carrier

Greece’s Capital Gas has taken delivery of a new 174,000-cbm LNG carrier from South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries.

HHI delivered the 299 meters long LNG carrier Attalos on Friday, Evangelos Marinakis-led Capital Gas said in a statement.

The shipping firm said the vessel would serve BP for a period of up to 13 years.

This LNG carrier follows the delivery of Aristarchos, which works under a long-term charter with US LNG exporter Cheniere.

Capital Gas chartered the first two vessels, Aristidis I and Aristos I, to BP as well.

Moreover, Capital Gas says it has five LNG newbuilds on order in South Korea scheduled for delivery in 2021-2023. It recently ordered two new LNG carriers at HHI.

All of the nine LNG carriers will feature WinGD’s X-DF engines and GTT’s Mark III Flex containment system but also an air lubrication system and increased filling limits.
