TotalEnergies to use Pertamina’s Arun LNG hub in Indonesia

French energy giant TotalEnergies has signed a terminal use agreement with a unit of Indonesian state-owned firm Pertamina for the Arun LNG hub in Indonesia.

Under the deal, Total would use two tanks this year at the Arun terminal, operated by Pertamina’s Perta Arun Gas, to store LNG from international sources as part of its global marketing strategy, according to a Pertamina statement.

The tanks have a storage capacity of 210,000 cbm, Pertamina said, adding that the facility has in total four tanks with a total capacity of 508,000 cbm.

According to the statement, the first LNG carrier under this agreement would arrive at the facility in early September.

The 160,276-cbm Cubal previously loaded a cargo at Angola LNG’s plant in Soyo, where TotalEnergies is a shareholder.

The Arun LNG plant, located in Lhokseumawe, has previously exported LNG for about 36 years. However, Pertamina converted the facility in 2015 to act as a regasification plant and an LNG hub.
