Hyundai Mipo hands over first LNG-powered Ro-Ro to CLdN

South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo has delivered the first LNG-powered Ro-Ro to Luxembourg-based CLdN.

Hyundai Mipo said in a statement the vessel named Faustine is the first such ship built in Korea.

The 20,000-ton LNG-powered ship is 217 meters long and 32.2 meters wide. It can operate at a speed of 17.6 knots, according to Hyundai Mipo.

Moreover, it can load or unload cars, trucks, and trailers with containers from a ramp.

Besides MAN dual-fuel propulsion and a shaft generator, the vessel also features a 320-cbm type C LNG fuel storage tank located on the main deck.

European short sea Ro-Ro specialist CLdN ordered Faustine and a sister vessel at Hyundai Mipo back in 2019, as part of a shipbuilding program. The firm already operates LNG-ready vessels.

CLdN previously said it would bunker the two LNG-powered vessels in Rotterdam and Zeebrugge by barge or truck.
