BW’s FSRU rescues four people off Morocco

BW LNG, a unit of the Singapore-based gas shipping giant BW, said it FSRU BW Paris has rescued four people off the Moroccan coast.

According to BW LNG, an emergency message was broadcast to all vessels sailing through the Strait of Gibraltar, requesting assistance locating a small dinghy drifting in the area.

“Shortly thereafter the crew onboard FSRU BW Paris spotted a flashing light in the distance, leading them to the dinghy,” BW LNG said via its social media channels on Wednesday.

“Our crew immediately provided food and water and helped make sure the vessel was seaworthy while awaiting further instructions and assistance from the Coast Guard,” the firm said.

BW LNG did not provide any additional information.

According to its AIS data, the laden vessel was on Wednesday located in the Aegean Sea, Greece. Previously, the FSRU visited the Point Fortin LNG export facility in Trinidad and Tobago, the data shows.

Earlier this year, BW signed a charter contract with First Gen to provide this converted FSRU for the latter’s Batangas LNG import terminal in the Philippines.

The FSRU has a nominal and peak gas send-out capacity of 500 MMscfd and 750 MMscfd, respectively.

In addition to providing storage and regasification services, BW Paris would provide other services such as reloading of LNG into trucks and small-scale vessels.
