Rolande is looking to add up to 14 new LNG filling stations for trucks to its network in Europe, while it continues to work on a bio-LNG production plant in the northern Dutch city of Leeuwarden.
The LNG firm operates a network of 20 filling stations, including 13 in the Netherlands but also Belgium, Germany, and France.
Besides these facilities, it aims to add 12-14 LNG stations for trucks, the firm said in a statement this week.
Dutch bio-LNG plant
The Dutch firm has earlier this year joined forces with project developer D4. on a bio-LNG production plant in Leeuwarden.
Rolande said in the statement it would start supplying bio-LNG for road transport produced at the plant this year.
The installation will produce about 9.2 kilotons of bio-LNG annually.
“100 percent bio-LNG”
Jolon van der Schuit, CEO of Rolande, said that bio-LNG currently accounts for about 25 percent of the company’s total supplies.
“When the bio-LNG factory opens, it could increase up to 50 percent. In five years, we want to offer 100 percent bio-LNG,” he said.
Besides the bio-LNG plans in the Netherlands, Rolande is buying bio-LNG from Scandinavian Biogas.
In October, the two firms signed a new deal for deliveries of bio-LNG, totaling about 90 GWh of bio-LNG per year.
Sweden-based Scandinavian Biogas said the volume of this new agreement replaced a previously signed deal.
Also, deliveries will start in 2022 from Scandinavian Biogas’ facilities in Sweden and Norway for primarily supply to the Dutch and German market.
