Video: Carnival’s second LNG-powered cruise ship launched in Finland

Finland’s Meyer Turku has launched the second LNG-powered cruise ship for Carnival Cruise Line, a unit of the world’s largest cruise ship operator Carnival.

The Turku yard hosted the float-out ceremony for the 340 meters long Carnival Celebration last week.

“The float-out started on Friday morning local time with the opening of the building dock valves and will culminate during the weekend,” the shipbuilder said.

Carnival Celebration is the second out of three Excel-class ships built at Meyer Turku for Carnival Cruise Lines.

Its sister ship Mardi Gras is already sailing from Port Canaveral, Florida, US.

Scheduled to enter service this fall, Carnival Celebration will sail a transatlantic voyage from Southampton to her PortMiami homeport in November.

Such as Mardi Gras, the newbuild will accommodate more than 5,200 guests and a crew of 2,000. Guests will have the choice of more than 2,600 staterooms and 180 suites across 11 categories.
