Total’s PitPoint starts building Dutch LNG truck station

Total’s unit PitPoint has started constructing a new multiple-energy truck station in the Dutch city of Deventer, close to the German border.

Alongside the traditional fuels on offer, this multiple-energy station will at first offer liquefied natural gas as fuel for trucks.

Besides offering LNG, diesel and AdBlue, the design of the station is also leaving room for the potential of dispensing hydrogen in the future.

Furthermore, PitPoint says this will be the first LNG station at one of Total’s existing facilities in the Netherlands.

Dutch transport companies are increasingly making the switch from diesel to LNG to slash emissions.

In addition to the environmental benefits, transport companies geared to Germany also benefit from financial advantages as LNG-powered trucks in Germany are free of toll until the end of 2023.

PitPoint says that the new station is also a response to this development as a full LNG tank loaded at the Deventer station will provide enough fuel to reach “every corner of Germany”.
