Shell’s LNG Canada gets new CEO

Shell-led LNG Canada joint venture, the developer of the 14 mtpa LNG export plant in Kitimat, has appointed Jason Klein as its new chief executive.

Last month, LNG Canada named Steve Corbin as interim CEO after Peter Zebedee decided to step down from the position.

Corbin now returns to his role of vice president and executive project director, LNG Canada said in a statement on Wednesday.

New CEO Klein comes from Shell Canada, where he served as VP Canada integrated gas, accountable for developing Shell’s integrated gas business, including oversight and governance of the LNG Canada project.

“I’m excited to join the team, especially at this time with construction in Kitimat progressing steadily and safely towards completion and the organization preparing for decades of successful operations,” said Klein.

Now 60 percent complete, the LNG Canada project remains on track to deliver its first cargo by the middle of this decade, the statement said.

Besides operator Shell, other partners in LNG Canada are Malaysia’s Petronas, PetroChina, Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation, and South Korea’s Kogas.
