French energy giant Engie has appointed Catherine MacGregor as new chief executive officer as it pushes towards energy transition.
Engie has been looking for a new CEO since its board decided in February not to renew the mandate of Isabelle Kocher.
To remind, the French firm revealed in July plans to boost its development in renewables, but also biogas and hydrogen as it shifts towards low-carbon energy.
Consequently, the firm’s board held a meeting on Friday electing MacGregor as the new chief executive, effective January 1, 2021.
“Her vision on Engie’s transformation and development, her industrial and international track record as well as her leadership and managerial skills will fully contribute to the achievement of the strategic orientations announced at the end of July,” Engie said.
Oil and gas services executive
Aged 48, MacGregor began her career at the oil and gas services prvider Schlumberger in 1995. She worked for Schlumberger for 23 years in multiple senior management positions on all continents.
In the summer of 2019, she chose to pursue her career in the energy industry by joining the Executive Committee of TechnipFMC. MacGregor headed TechnipFMC’s onshore and offshore engineering and construction activities, Technip Energies.
