Elengy’s Montoir terminal welcomes first Q-Max vessel

France’s Elengy said Wednesday its Montoir-de-Bretagne terminal received the first Q-Max vessel, one of the world’s largest LNG tankers.

With a length of 345 meters, which is more than the Eiffel Tower, the 267,000-cbm Al Mayeda delivered the cargo to the terminal in the port of Nantes Saint-Nazaire from Qatar.

This capacity is equal to about ten times the yearly residential energy consumption of the Nantes metropolitan area, Elengy said.

Since its commissioning in 1980, the Montoir terminal on the Atlantic coast has received more than 210 different LNG carriers.

These LNG shipments not only come from Qatar but from various other countries spanning from Russia to Australia.

The Montoir facility features three 120,000-cbm LNG tanks and a regasification capacity of 10 bcm of gas per year.

Furthermore, it also has two jetties capable of accommodating LNG carriers from 65,000 cbm to 267,000 cbm capacity.
