TotalEnergies launches German LNG fueling station

A unit of French energy giant TotalEnergies has opened a new LNG fueling station for trucks in Germany and plans to launch additional stations by the end of this year.

TotalEnergies Germany launched the new facility at the TotalEnergies service station Geiselwind, Bavaria.

According to a social media post by TotalEnergies Mobility Solutions, the station will have four refueling tracks and LNG-powered trucks can access them from both sides.

Also, other TotalEnergies LNG stations in Germany can be found in Hirschberg and Alsfeld.

TotalEnergies plans to launch more LNG stations in Germany until the end of 2022, it said.

Dutch small-scale tech firm Liqal, part of Dover, and compatriot PitPoint.LNG have recently joined forces to realize three LNG fueling stations for trucks in Germany.

PitPoint.LNG is a joint venture consisting of PitPoint, owned by TotalEnergies, and SHV Energy’s Primagaz.

Liqal has earlier this year completed the first LNG station at the TotalEnergies truck stop in Hirschberg.

European network of LNG fueling stations continues to increase and has now more than 560 stations, according to NGVA Europe.

Data by the Brussels-based association shows that there are now 568 LNG and 4171 CNG fueling stations in Europe.

The countries with the highest amount of LNG stations for trucks today include Germany with 128, followed by Italy with 126, the data shows.

Spain hosts 88 LNG filling stations, France 65, the Netherlands 31, and Sweden 28.
