Capital Ship Management takes delivery of ammonia and LNG-ready VLCC

Greece’s Capital Ship Management said it has taken delivery of an ammonia and LNG-ready very large crude carrier from South Korea’s Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.

The Evangelos Marinakis-led firm said in a statement on Tuesday that the 300,000-dwt, scrubber fitted VLCC tanker, Amore Mio, is the first of two ammonia and LNG-ready sister ships to be delivered from Hyundai Samho in 2022.

Moreover, the vessels are Tier III compliant for reduced NOx emissions, assigned ABS Enviro notation as well as ABS ammonia fuel ready and LNG fuel ready notations, it said.

They are equipped with IHM notation for safe recycling, thus becoming two of the most “environmentally friendly, technologically advanced and efficient vessels” in the global VLCC fleet, Capital Ship Management claims.

The company currently operates a fleet of 37 tankers, including 12 VLCCs, 13 Aframaxes, 11 MR/Handy product tankers, and one small tanker with a total dwt of about 5.72 million tons.
