Rolande adds another German LNG fueling station to its network

Dutch firm Rolande has opened another liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling station for trucks in Germany as it continues to grow its network in Europe.

The new station is located in Hamburg, a major port city in northern Germany.

According to a statement by Rolande, the former Tankpool24 station is located on a strategically important transport corridor for goods deliveries to Scandinavia, northeastern Europe, and the transport of containers to and from the Hamburg port.

The public self-service filling station has two LNG dispensers.

Rolande says this is the company’s sixth LNG fueling station in Germany, making an “important contribution” to the currently existing LNG network in Germany.

The firm said it also acts as a partner for transport companies that want to switch to high-calorific CNG (CNG+), LNG, or bio-LNG.

According to NGVA Europe’s data, Germany hosts 142 LNG filling stations, the highest amount of LNG stations for trucks in Europe.

Rolande said it had already achieved “full coverage” in the Netherlands and Belgium, and plans to open further locations in Germany by the end of the year.

“Hamburg marks a milestone for Rolande to make liquefied natural gas available for all trucks at strategic transport hubs,” Jolon van der Schuit, CEO of Rolande said in the statement.

“LNG is an important step towards sustainable fuel. As soon as emission-free bio-LNG is available in sufficient quantities, Rolande will offer 100 percent biological fuel at all its stations,” he said.
