Gasum, Equinor extend LNG bunkering deal

Finnish state-owned energy firm and LNG supplier, Gasum, will continue to bunker Equinor’s LNG-powered offshore vessels under a new deal revealed on Tuesday.

Norway’s Equinor had confirmed its intention to exercise the option to extend the company’s LNG bunkering contract with Gasum, according to a social media post on Tuesday by the latter.

Gasum said it would continue to serve Equinor’s LNG-powered offshore vessels along the Norwegian coast.

The bunkering would be done via onshore terminals and truck-to-ship, it said.

Gasum did not provide any additional information.

The Finnish firm has been bunkering Equinor’s chartered oil tankers that are shipping crude oil from North Sea. These include Altera’s LNG-powered Rainbow Spirit.

Back in 2020, the two firms expanded their cooperation with the signing of a new LNG bunkering deal for the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp region.

Gasum and Equinor have worked on various projects relating to LNG supply for many of Equinor’s vessels since 2011, according to Gasum.
