Titan’s converted LNG bunkering duo ready to start work

Titan’s two converted liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessels are ready to start operations following the completion of the upgrading works at two yards.

Ealrier this year, the Dutch LNG supplier purchased two small-scale vessels from Seapeak, previously known as Teekay LNG Partners.

Titan renamed the sister vessels, built in 2011 and with a capacity of 12,000 cbm, to Titan Unikum and Titan Vision.

In March this year, Titan Unikum arrived in Vigo, Spain to start the conversion into an LNG bunker vessel at Metalships & Docks shipyard.

Titan announced in a social media post on Thursday that the conversion of this vessel and its siter ship has been completed.

The vessel now has all necessary bunkering equipment, such as cargo transfer systems, ERS, ESL systems, and mooring enhancements, it said.

This conversion will allow Titan Unikum to transport and bunker LNG, bio-LNG, and in the longer-term, hydrogen-derived e-methane (e-LNG), Titan previously said.

Meanwhile, Titan Vision’s journey to becoming an LNG bunkering vessel took place at the PaxOcean shipyard in Indonesia, according to Titan.

Besides these two converted vessels, Titan owns two FlexFuelers, both with a 1,500 cbm capacity, and it also charters other LNG bunkering vessels.

In June, Italian shipping group Fratelli Cosulich signed a charter deal for its first LNG bunkering vessel, Alice Cosulich, with Titan.

In addition to vessels, Titan also revealed plans to build a large bio-LNG plant in the Amsterdam port and joined forces with Nordsol for another bio-LNG plant.
