According to a social media post by GNLink, the firm received approval from Brazil’s National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) to start operating its first liquefaction unit in northeastern Brazil.
The project is part of the company’s liquefaction investments, which aim to make natural gas available via trucks in remote areas where it is not accessible through pipelines.
GNLink previously said the project is worth 155 million Brazilian reals ($27.8 million).
The liquefaction unit has a liquefaction capacity of 100,000 cbm per day.
GNLink already has a liquefaction unit in operation in Pitanga, Parana, in Southern Brazil.
Operational since November 2024, this unit also has a liquefaction capacity of 100,000 cbm per day.
According to GNLink, the third liquefaction unit is under construction in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
The company anticipates that this unit will begin operating later this year.
With this, GNLink will complete the first investment cycle, achieving a total production capacity of approximately 292,000 cbm per day, it said.
The company claims that it would become the only LNG producer in Brazil with three units in operation by 2025.
GNLink uses liquefaction equipment provided by Galileo Technologies.
The two firms announced a deal for the Parana unit back in 2023.
Earlier this year, Brazilian energy firm Eneva launched the second small liquefaction train at its Parnaiba complex in the town of Santo Antonio dos Lopes, in Maranhao.
With this, the small liquefaction plant with a capacity of about 600,000 cbm per year entered full commercial operations.
