Energy Transfer suspends development of Lake Charles LNG

Chinese independent gas distributor ENN said it will buy only half of the LNG volumes it had agreed under a long-term SPA with Cheniere in 2023, as the US LNG producer has not yet taken a final investment decision on the first phase of the Sabine Pass expansion project.

Texas-based Energy Transfer said it had terminated several offtake agreements related to its suspended Lake Charles LNG export project in Louisiana.

Saudi Arabia’s energy behemoth Aramco has signed a preliminary deal with Kimmeridge's Commonwealth LNG, the developer of the 9.5 mtpa LNG export project near Cameron, Louisiana, as part of 17 agreements with a potential value of more than $30 billion with companies in the US.

Texas-based Energy Transfer wants to sell 80 percent of the equity in its proposed Lake Charles LNG export facility in Louisiana before making a final investment decision on the project, according to its management.
