French shipping firm Corsica Linea expects to put the LNG-powered ferry Capu Rossu, the second LNG-powered vessel in its fleet, into service in June this year.
According to a statement by Corsica Linea, the delivery ceremony for the 204-meter-long vessel took place at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Weihai on March 26.
Sweden’s Stena RoRo ordered this RoPax-class E-Flexer vessel from the Chinese yard in January 2024.
Corsica Line expects Capu Rossu to arrive in Marseille in May, before entering service in June on routes serving Corsica.
Following the entry into service of A Galeotta in 2023, this new vessel strengthens the transport network between Corsica and the mainland, offering increased capacity and operational performance, Corsica Linea said.
Corsica Linea took delivery of its first LNG-powered ferry in its fleet, A Galeotta, in December 2022, three years after signing the contract with the Visentini shipyard in Italy.
The integration of Capu Rossu is part of Corsica Llinea’s decarbonization strategy, which aims to reduce CO₂ emissions by 40 percent by 2030, with the ambition of achieving carbon neutrality by 2040, the firm said.
