Germany’s TT-Line takes delivery of second LNG-powered ferry in China

German ferry operator TT-Line has taken delivery of its LNG-powered RoPax ferry, Peter Pan, in China.

China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing delivered the 230 meters long vessel to the owner during a ceremony held on Monday.

According to a statement by TT-Line, the LNG-powered ship would begin its 49-day journey towards Travemuende within the next few days.

The firm expects the vessel to enter service in the middle of the first quarter of 2023.

The Chinese yard delivered the sister ship, Nils Holgersson, in March and the vessel started its Baltic Sea operations from Travemuende in April.

Both of the vessels feature MAN dual-fuel engines and two 500-cbm type C LNG tanks, according to TT-Line.

The ships, based on TT-Line’s ‘Green Ship’ design, have the capacity for about 800 passengers and over 200 vehicles, and will both work in the Baltic Sea.
