GTT nets LNG tank gig from Hudong

French engineer GTT has won a contract from China’s shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua to design tanks for one 174,000-cbm LNG carrier

GTT said Hudong is building the vessel for CSSC Shipping, the financial leasing unit of China State Shipbuilding Corporation.

The vessel would feature GTT’s NO96 L03+ membrane containment system, the French firm said in a statement on Thursday. GTT said it has secured the contract in October.

Hudong will deliver this vessel in the first quarter of 2024.

To remind, Hudong and CSSC Shipping signed the newbuild contract in July this year.

Hudong is already building two 174,000-cbm LNG carriers for CSSC Shipping as part of a contract signed in December 2019.

The state-owned yard delivered the first LNG carrier Mu Lan in August. Hudong should deliver the sister vessel Gui Ying next year.

Part of Hudong’s fourth-generation Changxing series, all three LNG carriers will feature WinGD’s X-DF dual-fuel engines and GTT’s NO96 L03+ containment system.

They will be 295 meters long and 45 meters wide.
