Hoegh Giant FSRU on way to India to start Jaigarh LNG contract

Hoegh LNG’s FSRU is on its way to H-Energy’s import facility in Jaigarh, India following the completion of modification works at Singapore’s Keppel Shipyard.

To remind, Norway’s Hoegh said in February it would send the 2017-built Hoegh Giant to Keppel for “minor” modifications ahead of its job in India.

This is in addition to pre-completion of the vessel’s five-year periodic class survey, originally scheduled for 2022.

H-Energy, led by Darshan Hiranandani, said during the weekend in a short announcement via social media that the FSRU had departed to Jaigarh in Maharashtra state.

Hoegh Giant left Singapore on Sunday and it should arrive at Jaigarh port around April 10, the vessels’ AIS data shows.

According to the duo, Hoegh Giant will be the first FSRU operating in India and will deliver natural gas to the 56 km Jaigarh-Dabhol pipeline connecting the LNG import terminal to the national gas grid.

Moreover, the vessel will also deliver LNG for onshore distribution through truck loading facilities, as well as reload the fuel onto small-scale vessels for downstream distribution or bunkering services.

The vessel has a storage capacity of 170,000 cbm and a peak regasification capacity of 750 mmscfd.

Hoegh Giant will serve the terminal for a period of 10 years with annual termination options after year five.

H-Energy previously said it plans to build the Jaigarh terminal in two stages. Besides the first 6 mtpa stage which includes the FSRU, the firm also aims to add an onshore facility.
