China’s Hudong-Zhonghua has started building the third LNG carrier for CSSC Shipping, the financial leasing unit of China State Shipbuilding Corporation.
To mark the construction start, the state-owned yard held a steel-cutting ceremony on December 28 for the LNG carrier with a working name H1829A, it said in a statement.
Hudong should deliver this 174,000-cbm LNG carrier to the owner in 2024.
To remind, the two firms signed the shipbuilding contract for this LNG carrier in July this year.
This new carrier follows sister vessels Mu Lan, which serves China’s state-owned giant CNPC, and Gui Ying, which works for trader Gunvor.
Such as these two LNG carriers, the new ship will also feature WinGD’s X-DF dual-fuel engines and GTT’s NO96 L03+ containment system.
Part of Hudong’s fourth-generation Changxing series, it will be 295 meters long and 45 meters wide.
