Last year, Hudong-Zhonghua delivered a record six LNG carriers.
Earlier this month, the shipbuilder broke this record with the delivery of a new LNG carrier as part of the massive QatarEnergy shipbuilding program.
On Wednesday, Hudong-Zhonghua delivered the 174,000-cbm LNG carrier, Greenergy Pearl, further boosting this yearly delivery record of large LNG carriers.
The newest LNG carrier was handed over to Japan’s MOL, COSCO Shipping’s unit CSLNG, and CNOOC eight months ahead of schedule, according to the shipbuilder.
This vessel is a sister ship to the world’s first fifth-generation “Changheng” series LNG carrier, Greenergy Ocean, delivered in May this year and equipped with GTT’s NO96 Super+ containment system.
In January, Hudong-Zhonghua completed the world’s first LNG tanks fitted with GTT’s NO96 Super+ containment system.
Hudong-Zhonghua is the first to complete tanks with this technology,
Besides GTT’s NO96 Super+ containment system, the 299 meters long vessel features WinGD 5X72DF2.1 dual-fuel main engine.
Greenergy Pearl is the second of six LNG carriers MOL, in a partnership with COSCO Shipping’s unit CSLNG, ordered by the shipbuilder in January 2022. MOL also said that CNOOC is part of the JV which owns the vessels.
All of the ships will serve CNOOC’s gas and power unit under long-term charter deals and are expected to be delivered by 2026.
