Hudong-Zhonghua lays keel for CSSC Shipping’s third LNG tanker

China’s Hudong-Zhonghua is moving forward with the construction of the third LNG carrier for CSSC Shipping, the financial leasing unit of China State Shipbuilding Corporation.

The CSSC-owned yard held a keel-laying ceremony on September 26 for the LNG carrier with a working name H1829A, it said in a statement.

Hudong-Zhonghua started building this 174,000-cbm vessel in December last year and should deliver it in 2024.

This carrier follows sister vessels Mu Lan, which serves China’s state-owned giant CNPC, and Gui Ying, which works for trader Gunvor.

In January this year, CSSC Shipping and Hudong-Zhonghua signed the shipbuilding contract for this fourth vessel as well.

This fourth ship is a part of the original 2+1+1 contract signed in 2019.

Hudong-Zhonghua kicked off work on this LNG carrier in June.

Part of Hudong’s fourth-generation Changxing series, the 295 meters long LNG carriers will feature WinGD’s X-DF dual-fuel engines and GTT’s NO96 L03+ containment system.
