Jiangnan delivers LNG-powered CMA CGM Cedrus

China’s Jiangnan has delivered the LNG-powered containership, CMA CGM Cedrus, to French shipping giant CMA CGM.

The CSSC-controlled shipbuilder hosted the delivery ceremony for the 15,000-teu containership on January 9.

This is the first of six 15,000-teu containerships CMA CGM has on order at Jiangnan.

Jiangnan and Hudong-Zhonghua are each building six LNG-powered ships for CMA CGM as part of a deal revealed in April 2021, but the six vessels at Hudong-Zhonghua have a capacity of 13,000 units.

CMA CGM Cedrus is 336 meters long, 51 meters wide, and has a designed speed of 22 knots.

Moreover, the vessel’s LNG tank has a capacity of 14,000 cbm and is fitted with GTT’s Mark III membrane containment technology.

Jiangnan said it expects to deliver all of the six vessels by September 2024.

CMA CGM Cedrus is the 12th vessel Jiangnan built for CMA CGM. This includes the giant 23,000-teu LNG-powered ships.
