Jiangnan hands over second LPG-powered VLGC to Exmar

Belgian shipowner Exmar has taken delivery of the second dual-fueled very large gas carrier from China’s Jiangnan Shipyard.

Jiangnan delivered the 88,000-cbm Flanders Pioneer on Wednesday. This vessel follows sister ship Flanders Innovation which joined the Exmar fleet in June.

Exmar claims these 230 meters long vessels are the largest dual-fuel LPG carriers in the world. Both of the carriers will sail on liquefied petroleum gas.

Exmar previously said it had financed these ships through a sale-leaseback scheme with the Japanese shipping group Doun Kisen.

They will both work for Norwegian energy giant Equinor under 5-year charters.

Exmar operates a large fleet of vessels including LPG and LNG tankers, two FSRUs but also Tango FLNG.
