The shipbuilding deal, which was signed on June 9, includes two optional vessels, according to Sallaum Lines.
Sallaum Lines did not provide the pricing details or the delivery dates.
Each ship will measure 199.90 meters in length overall, with a beam of 38 meters and an air draught of 46 meters.
The new vessels will be equipped with dual-fuel engines capable of operating on LNG, VLSFO, and MGO.
In addition, the ammonia-ready designation positions the vessels for future conversion as green ammonia supply chains develop, helping “future-proof the fleet in line with evolving regulatory requirements,” the company said.
With five liftable decks, the vessels are designed to accommodate a broad and evolving cargo mix, from passenger cars and light commercial vehicles to heavy rolling equipment and project cargo, Sallaum Lines said.
This balance of capacity and maneuverability will support Sallaum Lines across its established trade lanes, including Europe, the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East.
Sallaum Lines noted that the order follows the recent delivery of its newest LNG dual-fuel ships and marks the next step in an accelerating fleet renewal program.
The company recently took delivery of Ocean Express and Ocean Navigator from China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu).
Earlier this year, the company also took delivery of LNG-powered Ocean Explorer from China’s Mawei Shipbuilding.
In 2022, Sallaum Lines ordered two LNG-powered PCTCs at Fujian Mawei.
After that, Sallaum Lines placed an order for LNG-powered PCTCs at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu).
