TMS Cardiff Gas takes delivery of LNG carrier duo

Greece-based shipping firm TMS Cardiff Gas has taken delivery of two new tankers in South Korea following the recent handover of Cobia LNG.

The 174,000-cbm LNGShips Athena was on Friday located in East China Sea, offshore Japan, after leaving Hyundai Heavy’s Ulsan yard earlier this week, VesselsValue data shows.

This marked the second newbuilding vessel delivery for TMS Cardiff Gas this year and the seventh in total from Hyundai Heavy for the 2020-2021 period.

In addition, LNGShips Empress also left Samsung Heavy’s yard in Geoje and was on Friday sailing in the East China Sea, the data shows.

TMS Cardiff Gas previously said that both of these vessels, owned by LNGShips, would go on charter to energy giant Shell, such as their sister vessel LNGShips Manhattan which should join the fleet later this year.

According to the Greek LNG shipper, the vessels feature GTT’s Mark III Flex containment system and WinGD X-DF dual-fuel, low-pressure engines.

TMS Cardiff Gas manages a fleet of 16 LNG carriers including LNGShips Manhattan.

Once it takes delivery of this LNG carrier, the firm will complete its 2020-2021 newbuild program which included eleven 174,000-cbm vessels.
