C-LNG Solutions bags contract for Zodiac Maritime’s LNG-powered PCTCs

Singapore-based C-LNG Solutions has recently won a contract from China’s CIMC Raffles to deliver equipment for four LNG-powered pure car and truck carriers ordered by Eyal Ofer’s Zodiac Maritime.

C-LNG told LNG Prime it would provide its LNG fuel gas supply system for each of the four dual-fuel PCTCs with a capacity of 7000 units.

In addition, each ship will have two sets of 1,600-cbm type C LNG tanks that will deliver fuel to MAN’s ME-GI high-pressure engine.

The LNG fuel system specialist said it would deliver the equipment by the end of 2022.

C-LNG did not disclose the value of the contract.

In October last year, CIMC Raffles in Yantai won this contract from Zodiac. The deal also includes options for eight additional LNG-powered PCTCs.

Designed by the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), the vessels will have a length of 199.90 meters, a width of 38 meters, and a service speed of 19 knots.

VesselsValue data shows that Zodiac would pay about $83 million for each PCTC. CIMC Raffles should deliver the ships in 2023-2024.

Cryosafe Services deal

Besides this contract, C-LNG said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with UK-based LNG services firm Cryosafe Services.

Under the cooperation deal, the two firms would work on training, operation, safety assessment and consultancy as well as the R&D for future new clean fuels in the worldwide shipping market, it said.

The cooperation between C-LNG and Cryosafe would “maximize both parties’ experience and expertise in the industry in different regions, and bring more added value to worldwide clients by complementing each other’s resources and optimizing the cost,” C-LNG said.
